Fireboy and Watergirl 4: Crystal Temple is a two-player platform game that turns elemental differences into teamwork puzzles. Guide Fireboy and Watergirl through 39 crystal temple levels, activate portals and platforms, collect gems, and get both heroes safely to the exits.
This platform adventure is designed around controlling two characters at the same time. Fireboy and Watergirl share the same level but face different dangers, so two players can divide their attention and coordinate movement across separate paths.
Fireboy handles lava and red gems, while Watergirl moves safely through water and blue gems. White gems belong to both characters, but the toxic green liquid is dangerous for everyone.
A portal can transport more than the heroes. Push blocks and other objects through these magical doorways to move them into another part of the stage. Some portals remain inactive until a switch is triggered, making the route depend on another player's actions.
Many levels in Fireboy and Watergirl 4: Crystal Temple require one player to operate a mechanism while the other moves through the newly opened route. Buttons can activate doors, floating platforms, or fans, with some requiring a character to remain on them and others working for a limited time. Light-based mechanisms add another layer to the platform puzzles. Rotate a colored lever or move a slider to direct the correct beam toward a sensor and activate the required platform.
Ice changes the movement rules inside the temple. Fireboy slides quickly, while Watergirl moves much more slowly. Neither hero can jump while standing on ice. Blue light can freeze water into an icy platform, while red light melts the ice back into water. In two-player mode, this creates situations where one player controls the environment while the other plans the next movement.
Each stage asks both players to think about the complete route instead of simply racing toward the door. Collect red, blue, and white gems, avoid the wrong elemental hazards, activate every necessary mechanism, and bring both characters to their matching exits.
The level map also tracks special objectives, with completed levels changing from orange to green after all objectives are finished. Timed stages reward fast coordination, while portal and symmetry challenges focus more on reading the layout.
Fireboy and Watergirl 4: Crystal Temple works much like two people solving a giant mechanical puzzle box from opposite sides. One player opens the route, the other takes it; one character redirects the light, the other crosses the platform. Once both sides of the temple start moving together, even the strangest portal route begins to make sense. Try the co-op gameplay in Chained Together: Escape Parkour.
