Find Your Line Through the Water

The heart of Wave Race is simple: stay on course, maintain your speed, and reach the finish ahead of the competition. Your watercraft responds to directional input while the course throws corners, waves, jumps, and markers into your path. The open water gives you room to move, but choosing the wrong angle can quickly turn a fast section into a difficult recovery.

Master Tight Turns

Turning is one of the biggest parts of the Wave Race experience. A corner taken too late can push you away from the racing line, while an overly sharp adjustment can make the watercraft harder to control. Small directional inputs can help maintain a smoother route. Look beyond the current turn and position your watercraft for the next section before you reach it.

Use Waves to Your Advantage

Waves and ramps can change the movement of your watercraft and create opportunities for jumps. Approach these sections with enough speed to clear the obstacle while keeping control of your landing. A good landing puts you back into the race with momentum instead of forcing you to correct your position.

Pass the Markers Cleanly

Markers and gates define important parts of the course. Missing one can disrupt your route and cost valuable time, so positioning matters as you approach each set. Try to enter marker sections from an angle that leaves enough space for the next direction change. This makes the transition between sections smoother and reduces unnecessary steering.
